Milestone Young People runs small, supported homes for care-experienced adults aged 18 and over, with practical one-to-one support to build the skills of independent living. For the social workers and commissioners who place with us, every report a placement generates arrives pre-written, mapped to the Pathway Plan and ready to lodge.
The referral promise
A written decision within two hours.
When you send us a referral with enough to work from, you get a clear answer back within two hours — an acceptance, or a well-reasoned decline with a professional rationale and, where we can, a suggestion of a better-matched service.
A decline is written to the same standard as an acceptance. Every referral is acknowledged the same day, and for a night-time emergency, a placement breakdown, or a young person leaving custody or hospital, we hold a bridging option that gets someone safe the same day and into a house soon after.

Leaving care at 18 too often means moving alone into a flat with a bin bag of belongings and a benefits claim nobody has explained. Milestone exists to make that first chapter of adulthood a steadier one — a good home, a keyworker who sticks around, and the practical skills to hold a tenancy, manage money, and get into education or work.
The name says it plainly: a milestone marks how far you have come and points to what comes next. Every step counts — the first tenancy held, the first budget managed, the first job started.

Who does Milestone support?
Care-experienced adults aged 18 and over — principally former relevant young people aged 18 to 25 owed leaving-care duties. We provide supported accommodation and housing-related support only. We do not accommodate children, and we do not provide personal care.
How quickly will I get a decision?
Within two hours of a referral with enough information to work from. You will get a clear acceptance, or a reasoned decline with a professional rationale — and, where we can, a suggestion of a better-matched service.
Where do you have placements?
We are based in Milton Keynes and provide placements across England as commissioning demand requires. We offer small shared homes of three to four places each and dispersed move-on units, with neighbouring-area and out-of-area coverage where local capacity is unavailable. Current availability is confirmed at the point of referral.
How is the placement funded?
Transparently, and on two separate lines. For a planned placement, the local authority pays a commissioned support fee within a published band, and Housing Benefit meets the rent. For emergencies we quote a spot rate. A placement is funded one way or the other, never both. See our pricing.
