About us

Helping care-experienced young people reach the milestones of adult life.

Milestone Young People is a supported accommodation provider for care leavers aged 18 and over — professional enough to be trusted by commissioners, and warm enough to belong to the young people themselves.

Why "Milestone"

A marker on a journey, not a destination.

The name captures exactly what we set out to give young people leaving care: a sense of progress. A milestone marks how far you have come and points to what comes next. For a young person moving into independence, every step counts — the first tenancy held, the first budget managed, the first job started.

"Milestone Young People" says plainly who we are for and what we are here to do: to help care-experienced young people reach the milestones of adult life, one confident step at a time. It works equally on a local-authority framework and on a young person's front door.

What we stand for

Five things we will not compromise on.

Relationships first

Change happens through trusted relationships. We keep homes small and keyworkers consistent so young people are known, not processed.

Honest, always

A reasoned "no" beats a hopeful "yes". We are transparent about what we can do, what we cost, and where we are not the right fit.

Ambition, not just safety

Keeping a young person safe is the floor, not the ceiling. We measure progress into education, work and a tenancy they can hold.

The young person's voice

Plans are made with young people, not about them. Their words appear in every report we write.

Do the professionals' work with them

Good reporting is care. We build ours to lighten the load on the social workers and Personal Advisers around a young person.

Earn trust by evidence

As a new provider, we expect to be checked. We publish our outcomes and welcome the scrutiny.

Coverage

A Milton Keynes base, an England-wide reach.

We are based in Milton Keynes, where our first homes are opening, and we are built to work across England as commissioning demand requires.

Our capacity is deliberately flexible rather than fixed: small shared homes of three to four places each, a dispersed portfolio that scales with demand, additional homes opened as placements require, and neighbouring-area and out-of-area coverage where local capacity is unavailable. Current availability is always confirmed at the point of referral.

At a glance

  • Home base: Milton Keynes
  • Coverage: across England, as demand requires
  • Homes: small and shared, three to four places each
  • Plus dispersed self-contained move-on units
  • Out-of-area placements where local capacity is unavailable

Who we are for

Our scope, stated plainly.

Our scope

Milestone Young People provides supported accommodation and housing-related support exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We do not accommodate children, and we do not provide personal care.

Everything else on this site leads with the service, because that is what matters day to day. But we say the scope once, in full, so there is no ambiguity. We support care-experienced adults — principally former relevant young people aged 18 to 25 — with keywork, independent-living skills, tenancy sustainment and help to access education, employment, health and community life. Where a young person's needs cross into personal care, we arrange a suitable registered provider alongside the placement rather than absorbing the need ourselves.

Commissioners who would like our full regulatory position statement and readiness pack are welcome to request them.
